JEREMY COLE

Jeremy Cole is a video director & editor putting together amazing content for music videos, short films and music series. Cole studied at Kingston University receiving a 1st class degree in TV Design & production and moved into freelance editing and motor graphic design. He than began directing where he created a short film called ‘A Day In The Life Of My Stepdad’ which was premiered on Channel 4 and played at film festivals around the world.

In 2014, Cole pieced together a music series called Four to The Floor’ for Channel 4 Music (if you haven’t seen it already – check it out). This series offered the chance for a young audience to own and curate their own space on mainstream TV, showcasing the finest new artists in the UK and featuring amazing visuals, animation and music. The show included artists that Cole has worked with over the years such as Etta Bond, Little Simz and Kojey Radical.

Cole then went on to direct and conceive music videos and commercials alongside his docs and TV shows, collaborating with some of his favourite artists and people, including Little Simz, Etta Bond and Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers

Etta Bond – Big Girls (2015)

Little Simz – Dead Body (2015)

Young Fathers – Shame (2015)

“The idea came directly from the aggressive euphoria of the track, although the character is very reflective of experiences and people I knew when I was younger.” The characters actions represent stripping down your identity and the results being both liberating and traumatic.

THE REST

The RestLewis Levi and Alex Motlhabane are filmmakers / directors from Northampton focused on creating films with an unfiltered view of the world which often touch on social issues that we face in London and around the UK. The two lads met in met in college and then both went on to study film in University. In 2012, the formed this duo ‘The Rest’ and started their creative journey from there.

Kojey Radical – Footsteps (2016)

The rest have collaborated on 7 released videos so far with Kojey, one being ‘Open Hand’ which was  premiered at the Tate Britain and other being ‘Footsteps’ which was nominated for best video at the MOBO awards in 2016.

“Footsteps is a visual depiction of what it’s like to battle with self doubt within an industry designed to pigeon hole and categorise.”

New Generation – The film (2018)

This is a film to highlight issues faced by London’s urban youth. The film features AJ Tracey, Jevon, Kojey Radical as well as other notable faces. Both the visuals and sound production of this piece of work are amazing.

Slowthai – Polaroid (2018)

Hailing from the same city as The Rest, rapper slowthai came together to create a visual style that is unique to him, changing the way people view and create lo-fi music videos. They have now worked on 2 released videos with the artist and they some of the best visuals I have seen in a very long time.

I am really excited to see what these two video directors come out with next and what artists they collaborate with.
